Ty Tanglwyst

Ty Tanglwyst is a family run dairy farm located on the edge of the coastal plain of Porthcawl. It dates back all the way to the middle ages, when it was a grange of the nearby Margram Abbey, farmed by monks. It is also adjacent to the buried village of Kenfig – a medieval town and castle which was gradually buried by sand between the 12th and 14th centuries. Now only the ruined keep remains.

Today, the farm is run by Rhys and his family, and has been for four generations. In his own words “we just carry on farming – our inspiration comes from our ancestors.” As well as producing top quality butter, milk and cream, the farm also produces top quality cows. The Ty Tanglwyst herd supplies breeding cows across the south of the UK, and has an excellent reputation. “Ty Tanglwyst cows often go on to be herd favourites on their new farms due to their very friendly nature” says Rhys, who takes immense pride in the positive feedback he recieves from other farmers about his cows.

It’s hard work, but Rhys absolutely loves it, and wouldn’t change his job for the world.
