Global Gardens

Just off Whitchurch Road, towards the north of Cardiff, you’ll find the sprawling allotments of Global Gardens. In the allotments, you’ll likely find Poppy and the rest of the team knuckle-deep in soil, growing all sorts of fruits, vegetables, herbs and more.

Global Gardens started in 2016 as a community growing project, born out of Poppy’s desire to create a regenerative local food system in the city. Her vision was to foster a growing space that supports the sharing of food and cultures. The crops grown are used in community meals, shared within the local neighborhood, mainly amongst volunteers at the Volunteer Garden Sessions.

Poppy’s passion for cultivating food and sharing it with those around her has grown (pun intended) to be much more than just an allotment. Global Gardens hosts regular community events, including courses on food-growing, seasonal cooking and sustainable arts and crafts.
