Nature’s Little Helpers

Tim loves bees. He’s been beekeeping for 16 years, and running Nature’s Little Helpers for 14 of those years. Based in Lisvane, just on the outskirts of Cardiff, Tim began with just two hives on an allotment, but now looks after around 100 hives on site, but has around the same amount in various parts of South Wales, from farmland, to fruit farms, to plant nurseries. The honey he sells is 100% natural – nothing added, nothing taken away, and no pasteurisation, so all the goodness stays in the final product. The main product (and the one in your drink) is a wildflower honey, but Tim also sells different variants (try his heather honey, it’s divine) from his shop in Lisvane, as well as other bee-related products such as hand and body balms, beeswax candles, and beeswax soap!

His job amounts to much more than just producing honey and other things to sell. Tim’s favourite part of his job is the hands-on stuff – breeding bee colonies and queen rearing, and passing on this knowledge to new and aspiring beekeepers. He also runs experience days, where people can get in bee suits and go and handle the bees themselves! It’s a great day out, and nothing makes Tim happier than seeing people’s faces when they handle bees for the first time.
